We are excited to grow our faculty and invite Lecturer applications for the spring 2025 semester. 10 Month Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty and teach 30 credits for the academic year. Teaching assignments may be assigned at any of Kean’s New Jersey locations – Union, Ocean, Princeton, Skylands or Kean Online and may include day, evening and weekend courses. Evening hours are required for teaching graduate course assignments.

Lecturers are required to teach, provide student academic support, provide service to the university and community and perform other related faculty responsibilities. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, consistent with University guidelines. 10 Month Lecturers are responsible for performing their teaching and non-teaching responsibilities for the ten-month period of their appointment.

 

Department of Bilingual Education, TESOL and World Languages

College of Education

Bilingual/Multilingual Lecturer – The Department is seeking a candidate with a demonstrated record of teaching in a K-6, 5-8 or K-12 Bilingual/Multilingual setting with expertise in Bilingual/Multilingual related methodologies. The Lecturer will prepare undergraduate and graduate students to teach Bilingual/Multilingual students at the elementary, middle and high school levels. The Lecturer will teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in elementary and bilingual education; develop syllabi aligned to university and college learning outcomes and national and state professional standards; advise students on career choices in the field; participate in work towards assessment integration into courses, CAEP and Middle States accreditation; and perform other faculty responsibilities and departmental, college and university service initiatives.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field; New Jersey certification as a K-6/5-8 or K-12 Content Specialist with a Bilingual/Multilingual Teacher endorsement or the out-of-state equivalent; and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. A Doctorate degree is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with TESL, ACTFL and CAEP standards desirable. Candidate should have evidence of public-school teaching in Bilingual/Multilingual settings; evidence of successful teaching experience at the college level (e.g. course evaluations, teaching portfolio); and familiarity with current trends in pedagogy and program development.
