Position: The Department of Finance in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University seeks applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track, non-tenure eligible teaching faculty position as a Senior Lecturer or Professor of Practice to serve as Executive Director of the Harbert Investment Center. This appointment is for a 3-year term with the renewal contingent upon availability of funds, the need for services, and satisfactory performance. Compensation will be competitive. Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the successful candidate for this position is to provide strategic direction to the Harbert Investment Center, which is home to our Financial Management Association Honor Society and Auburn Student Investment Fund. These organizations provide a fully integrated program that combines education, career preparation, industry intellectual capital, alumni engagement, and information resources to produce highly trained and prepared students for placements at elite financial institutions. In addition, these students represent the Harbert College of Business and Department of Finance in premier business engagements, leadership seminars, case competitions, corporate visits and continuing education programs designed to foster engagement and personal relationships within the university and beyond. Plans for the Harbert Investment Center include part-time directors of community engagement and research, as well as an assistant to the executive director, which would all report to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will also teach a selection of undergraduate finance courses. The successful candidate will be expected to bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, and leadership to the Center and their courses. In so doing, the successful candidate is expected to remain current in this field of expertise through professional engagement and continuing professional education. In addition to executive director and instructional duties, the successful candidate will be expected to perform service to the university, college, and department. About the Department & Programs: The Department of Finance comprises 14 tenure track faculty, 4 full-time lecturers, and 2 full-time positions devoted to the professional development of undergraduate students. The department also routinely hires approximately 10 adjuncts per semester. With over 950 majors, the Department of Finance is the largest department in the largest college at Auburn University. With a very successful Financial Management Honor Society, our undergraduate program boasts some of the highest starting salaries and some of the most successful placements at Auburn, many in investment banking. The Department of Finance also has a Ph.D. program and an M.S. in Finance program. Our faculty have diverse research interests and publish in top-tier journals, such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
