Purpose: OBU is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty appointments in their new hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. This 2-year accelerated OTD program combines online and on-campus teaching, which allows adjunct faculty to perform work remotely with only lab-based courses requiring travel to the OBU campus in Shawnee, OK at various times throughout the year. The start date for this position varies (Fall 2025/Spring 2026/Summer 2026/Fall 2026). This position will remain open until it is filled. Required Qualifications:  
The ideal candidate for the Adjunct Faculty position must meet or exceed the following qualifications: 
Education
Required:   
- Occupational therapy degree (MOT, MSOT, etc.) from an ACOTE accredited program
 
 
Licensure
Required:  
- Current, valid non-restricted occupational therapy license
 
- Oklahoma (OK) state occupational therapy license or eligibility for licensure in OK
 
 
Experience 
Required:  
- A minimum of 3 years clinical experience as an occupational therapy practitioner
 
- A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in occupational therapy or similar program in higher education
 
 
Preferred:  
- Earned doctoral degree or advancing towards earned doctoral degree from an accredited program (OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD, etc.)
 
- Clinical experience in neurological conditions, psychosocial conditions, pediatrics, geriatrics, musculoskeletal conditions, physical impairments/disabilities, orthotics, physical agent modalities, health and wellness, and/or use of technologies in OT practice
 
- Advanced Certifications, Specializations, and/or Credentials in field of practice
 
- Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies in education
 
- Teaching experience in a hybrid format
 
- Hybrid/Online Teaching Certification
 
- Excellent communication skills and strong computer skills to meet the needs of our hybrid instructional format
 
- Appreciation of best practices in teaching and learning
 
- Competent in the integration of technology within the classroom and how to build a student-centered community within the online learning space
 
 
Equipment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.) as well as Zoom and other online meeting platforms
 
- Experience with online learning management software (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
 
 
Essential Functions   
Teaching Responsibilities:   
- Adjunct faculty members will be responsible for participating in the development of new courses to be delivered in a hybrid format, creating and conducting in-person lab immersions and experiential learning opportunities for students in alignment with the program’s curriculum design.
 
- All courses consist of asynchronous and synchronous classroom activities. Adjunct faculty are required to participate in and/or lead synchronous classroom sessions.
 
- Adjunct faculty are required to have a minimum of 2 hours of office hours per week for student needs.
 
 
Other Duties:  
- Adjunct faculty are highly encouraged to participate in faculty meetings as appropriate during the term in which they are teaching. 
 
- Adjunct faculty may be asked to participate in the accreditation process. 
 
- Adjunct faculty may be asked to participate on program committees as appropriate.
 
 
Physical Requirements:  
- Possess strength, range of motion, and fine and gross motor coordination to demonstrate mobility, self-care, assessments, and interventions.
 
- Perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, and reaching.
 
- Push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance if needed
 
- Tolerate 3–4 hours of continuous activity with minimal breaks and full 8–10 hour days with rest breaks for hands-on lab immersions.
 
 
Special Requirements:  
- Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.
 
- *Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
