The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB) Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Oishei Children’s Hospital, and UBMD Pediatrics is actively recruiting for a full-time pediatric physician in the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Under the leadership of Dr. Osama Almadhoun, Division Chief, the practice has an entire support group that cares for outpatients and inpatients, with a very active procedural area including endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and impedance pH probes. This program represents an important strategic component for the division and is one of the few Pediatric Gastroenterology practices in the Western New York area.

Responsibilities include the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal, nutritional, hepatic and pancreatic diseases in children from birth through young adulthood in Western New York, the Southern Tier and Northern Pennsylvania. The division is actively involved in the education of both residents and medical students, including lectures and teaching in the inpatient and the outpatient settings.

Candidates must have demonstrable experience in clinical medicine with specific expertise in the care of pediatric patients with all GI diagnoses including liver disease. Evidence of productive clinical or basic research will strongly support any candidate for the position.

UBMD Pediatrics is one of 18 practice plans within UBMD Physicians’ Group, the single largest medical group in Western New York. We provide premier health care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In addition to primary care pediatrics, we have 17 pediatric subspecialties. Our physicians make up the academic teaching faculty within the Department of Pediatrics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo and at Oishei Children’s Hospital. About Buffalo, NY
Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State and is located in the western region on the shores of Lake Erie, upriver of the majestic Niagara Falls. Buffalo - the City of Good Neighbors - is a big city with a rapidly growing economy, vital academic health sciences center, outstanding public schools, and modest cost of living. Buffalo’s rich cultural resources reflect its distinguished history and commitment to sustaining the arts, including the Grammy Award-winning Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra; the world class collection of modern paintings and sculptures at the Albright-Knox Art gallery; an extensive array of historic architectural treasures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; an expansive park system; and a variety of summer festivals. The city is home to the state’s largest concentration of theaters outside of New York City. Buffalo is close to two significant wine growing regions-Niagara Escarpment and the Finger Lakes region, and was named one of the Top 10 Food Cities by National Geographic. In addition, the Adirondack Mountains, covering 5,000 square miles, are half-a-day’s drive from Buffalo. Rich in natural resources and beauty, the Buffalo Niagara area is a 4-season region that offers the best for seasonal sports enthusiasts including the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, and the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. Due to its mild temperatures, abundance of recreational activities, low risk of natural disasters, bountiful fresh water, and clean energy production, Buffalo is a great place to work, study and live - going from “Punchline to Lifeline”.
