Assistant Professor (tenure track) Position in Volcanology
The Asian School of the Environment (ASE, https://www.ntu.edu.sg/ase) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Volcanology. We broadly welcome applications across all areas of volcanology. This can include, but is not limited to, volcanic hazards, physical volcanology and processes, as well as stratigraphy.
Successful candidates should demonstrate the potential to build a world-class research programme and a commitment to education and mentorship of students, and to meaningfully contribute to our ambitions to have societal and environmental impact in Singapore and the surrounding region. They will teach within ASE at both undergraduate and at postgraduate levels.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in Volcanology or closely related fields, show evidence of impactful, independent research in the field of volcanology, and have a strong interest in working with other faculty within the Asian School of the Environment and within the region. We will consider a candidate’s past outputs, current research programme, likelihood to obtain future funding support, and potential and enthusiasm to develop their own research leadership in Volcanology.
ASE is a diverse, interdisciplinary school that integrates geoscience, ecology, and social science in order to examine environmental challenges in Asia and globally. ASE collaborates closely with the Earth Observatory of Singapore, and other schools in NTU’s College of Science. ASE has state-of-the-art teaching facilities and research laboratories, including experimental facilities, access to high performance computers, geochemical and geophysical analytical facilities, and general-purpose laboratories. ASE also has existing research partnerships that may facilitate collaborations in the region.
